This joyful arrangement of a well-known hymn will be a favorite of your choir and congregation alike. A flowing and romantic second verse contrasts with lively up-tempo sections. The imperative "Rejoice" is felt not only in the text but in the clear call of the lyrical vocal lines and the accompaniment. The optional string quartet adds to the classical style of the work. Very nicely done!

This strong, accessible anthem begins and ends in a distinctively Classical style, but transitions into a B section that provides the feel of a more Romantic Period piece. If at all possible it is recommended that the score for String Quartet (violin, violin, viola, cello) be purchased (available separately) as it certainly makes for a very nice presentation. With very teachable choral parts for most choirs, this is a strong addition to any concert or celebratory worship service.

The Bottom Line

Pros
Strong celebratory anthem; not difficult
Cons
none
