On a recent trip to Montana, I discovered new angles and expanded landscapes of what I have known for decades.
God is God.
Psalm 46 reminds us …
God is our refuge and strength.
God is a very present help in times of trouble.
Though the mountains shake and slip into the heart of the sea, God is God.
Though the ocean waters roar and foam, God is God.
Though pandemics shake us up, take the lives of those we love, lay us off from our jobs, and wreak havoc upon our sense of security,
God is still God.
Though politics send us clamoring for ideological poles apart from one another,
God is still God.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of our God.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
The God of Jacob is our fortress.
We will not fear.
O God, thank you for the beautiful changing of seasons upon the earth. They remind us that you are God.
And even through seasons of pain, loss, confusion, and incivility, You shall always be God.
We ask that we might love as you love, might be willing to suffer for one another as you have suffered for us.
We ask that You would make us instruments of your peace in a world which desperately needs your presence.
In the name of the One Who loves us all, amen.
