British composer Howard Goodall composed this setting of Psalm 23 as the title theme to the BBC television series “The Vicar of Dibley.” An anthem of warmth and tranquil beauty, it features a brief soprano solo and lovely melodies that enhance each verse of this most beloved psalm. At times dramatic and at others peaceful, it is a poignant choral offering particularly effective for memorial services.

“In my Father’s house you will find a place in the warm embrace of an open door.”  A song of comfort and reflective of the meaning of “sanctuary,” this lyric beauty welcomes all those who enter the Lord’s house as a place of comfort, love, and peace.  Include children’s choir, or a small women’s group on the opening measures for even greater effect.  Very nicely done!
